One of the main reasons a client will choose a Cantilever staircase design is the overall ‘wow’ factor and the impact it will have on the interior design of the home. It promotes natural lighting and creates the illusion of additional space with the main structure hidden within the steps and behind the confines of the wall.
Recent years have seen our clients becoming more actively involved in the design of their new home. We work closely with the client, from discussing initial concepts to the final installation of the staircase to achieve the desired results.
The Cantilever stairs featured here has no visible stringer and the steps appear to float from the wall with all fixings completely concealed. The use of a glass balustrade adds to the sense of openness and space.
How is this achieved?
This is achieved using a steel stringer secured to a structural wall and later concealed with plasterboard.
The End Result
Using our experience and expertise, the work put into both the structural calculations and meticulous finishing result in a stairs that is both solid to walk while having an elegant aesthetic.
With no visible supports, the stairs featured above maintains a minimalist contemporary feel which fully leverages the sense of openness and depth in the hall. In this particular project natural illumination is further enhanced by a double story glass wall which floods the area with natural light.
